Preet Kaur Gill MP is inviting everyone in Edgbaston constituency (covering Harborne, Quinton, Bartley Green and Edgbaston wards) to get involved in UK Parliament Week (UKPW).
UK Parliament Week is taking place from 14-20 November and is an opportunity for communities to join together to find out how to make a difference on issues they care about by engaging with UK Parliament.
As well as exploring Parliament and ways to get involved, this year’s UKPW will also mark the reopening of Big Ben and the Elizabeth Tower after a period of restoration, with activities to celebrate this historic occasion. Local groups, volunteer organisations and schools in hundreds of constituencies across the United Kingdom have already signed up to get involved, take action and make an impact.
Preet Kaur Gill, MP for Birmingham Edgbaston said:
“I’m encouraging people across my constituency to sign up for UK Parliament Week 2022. I’m especially keen to see schools getting involved so that young people can better understand how politics works and how the policies and decisions made in Parliament, directly have an impact on their futures. This is a real opportunity for us all to learn and celebrate our democracy.”
Naomi Jurczak, Head of Education and Engagement at UK Parliament, said:
“UK Parliament Week is a great opportunity for citizens of all ages to get informed about how they can engage with UK Parliament to make a difference. Every year it’s fantastic to see so many people actively take part in UK Parliament Week. We look forward to lots of people across Edgbaston constituency joining in.”
People who sign up for UK Parliament Week will be sent a free kit packed with resources, including a booklet, a ballot box, bunting and stickers. There are tailored kits available for youth groups, primary and secondary schools, and adults/over 16s.
